Haven't you noticed half the city in New York plates but not one person in the city can tell you who to call to report. Unfair to tax payers

In my neighborhood, besides the New York plates, we have a truck with a Maine plate that has been parking here for over a year and still has not changed the plate and now the truck with the Florida plate that has been here for over seven months. Unlike Connecticut, Maine and Florida do not charge personal property tax on your vehicles. They are living here, they park in our neighborhood every night, yet they are evading paying taxes to the city and state that we do because of this fraud with their plates. I thought there were some kind of rules that if you were living and working in Connecticut, you had to change your license plates within a certain amount of time. Very unfair to taxpayers!

Once you have established residency in Connecticut, you have 60 days to transfer your vehicle registration to this state. (Effective October 1, 2021, new residents have 90 days to register a vehicle in Connecticut.) Here is the State law, a bit confusing of course. Numerous out of state vehicles all over Bridgeport. Losing out on a lot of taxes. Does the Tax Dept. realize this, City Council, Mayor?

I will report the two vehicles with the sine and Florida plates to the tax department of Bridgeport on Monday. Let’s see what they do with it. More to follow.

I've called every office in this city in regards to that and no one seems to know who's responsible for checking for people residing in Bpt with our of state plates. Not one person in the city of Bridgeport could answer that. One person told me to go to the media. But maybe since election time is coming next year they'll "look into it"

Once you have established residency in Connecticut, you have 30 days to transfer your out-of-state license to Connecticut. Here is another law. This one says 30 days. Everyone is confused. Motor vehicle taxes are collected by the Bridgeport Tax Collector's Office. If they don't know the answer, we are really in trouble.

Everybody remember the mayor is up for reelection. Every time you see one of those Florida plates that you know has been here for well over six months, or a plate from Vermont or Maine that you know has been in your neighborhood well longer than it should be, they are taking advantage of the Connecticut economy and Bridgeport taxpayers, but not paying any property tax while we are, remember the mayor is up for reelection.

There's a state employee who has 4 luxury Mercedes vehicles that all have florida plates yet she lives in this state and so does she live. So our tax dollars pay twice

I talked to a lawyer friend who said that to maintain an out-of-state plate, that vehicle has to spend six months and one day physically in the state it is registered in.So those four Mercedes, if they spend more than six months and one day here, they need to be ticketed and towed. Maybe write down the four license plate numbers and report the violation to the state Attorney General if you have them because we know the mayor, police, or tax office in Bridgeport won’t do anything, even if you do report it.

Oh no they are here all year round !

If they are there year-round, you need to report it to the Bridgeport tax office. That’s not fair to the rest of us taxpayers. And I would leave a note on their windshields saying there is documentation of their being there year-round and the fraud is being reported.

Since our police, our mayor, and our politicians won’t protect us, it’s time for the taxpayers of Bridgeport to stand up for themselves. We have been dumped on long enough! People are always seeking to make money off of us, and then never do anything for us.
