Description
Sewer Lift Station that is situated within residential housing neighborhood emits obnoxious odor too frequently. Emissions of odor most noticeable during warmer seasons such as spring, Summer, Fall. Symptoms also include back-pressure into nearby residential plumbing causing backflow of gas and sometimes fluids! This lift station seems to not be configured as others that are situated in more prominent areas. The questions we have are: 1). What odor control/elimination processes are utilized at this site?; 2). why not adequate technical method(s) utilized; and 3). Why is it that the residents' concerns and complaints regarding obnoxious odors to-date, have not been acknowledged by HOA and Public Officials, adequately addressed, and corrected?

As indicated in the Description statement above, the odor is most noticeable during warmer seasons (i.e. spring, summer, fall).
There was work done recently on the lift station during the month of December (2017). In spite of efforts to discover officially what was the scope of the work and its intended purpose, residences to-date, have not been informed as to how the work would effect the odor. Email requests directed to Gwinnett's DOWR have gone unanswered.
Why would the County elect to subject its citizens to such conditions when a "fix" is feasible and similar conditions do not exist at other installations in the County? Is there someone at the DOWR that I can call so as to share first-hand observations?
It stinks!

Thank you.
I will reach out to the representative mentioned in your 1/25/2018 response to establish a time for a face-to-face review. It is my hopes that the representative will be prepared to answer the questions mentioned in the original posting of the issue dated 12/11/2017 (see above).

Telephone contact made with several constituents of relevant DOWR Dept. A face-to-face walk-about and review session at the sight has been set for Friday, Feb 2.
Thanks for the opportunity to understand the issue and efforts to find an admirable solution - for both sides, the Residents and the County.

The face-to-face meeting between Gwinnett DOWR Representative(s) and a voice for the Residents; as well as the HMS Manager of the HOA for DMC subdivision was conducted as posted above.
Issues as mentioned in the original posting (dated 12/11/17 above) were reiterated and pointed out. The Department Manager for the DOWR that was present, committed the Department to investigate thoroughly and to begin immediately to remedy those nuisances, problematic symptoms, and hazards as appropriate. Recommendations for homeowners may also be forthcoming for the mutual benefit.
Also, there were another issue presented and clarifications exchanged regarding tie-ins by a neighboring development.
