Cars turning from Shattuck onto 56th St. to access the 24 Freeway entrance regularly get into accidents here. There were two traffic accidents in the last six weeks including a pedestrian hit. 56th Street has speed bumps, but the intersection is uncontrolled. We see accidents every month or two as people get impatient waiting in heavy traffic and zip out, only to get broadsided by oncoming traffic they didn't see. There needs to be some kind of control at the intersection of 56th and Shattuck - a stop sign, a traffic light.

One more thing..... There is a sign at 56th + Shattuck that tells people not to block the intersection.
It's not really effective. I live on 56th and it is difficult to access Shattuck during the rush hour.
A stop sign, a cross walk, and some blinking lights might help.
Yes we do have trucks going down 56th to access FWY 24! They really should be using 55th street.
I don't think closing 56th is a good idea for my neighbors at that end of the street.
