This space is a beautiful place of mourning, learning, art, community, and healing! There needs to be plans enacted by the city with input from the community to make this a permanent memorial. The fact that the city has announced that 38th Street will be reopened the week of August 17th is just disgusting. There has been no communication from the city with leaders of the memorial and the city of Minneapolis is just trying to appeal to calls of normalcy. There is no going back to normal. A man was murdered at this spot by the city police and there has been no justice served. Until there is justice and negotiations with the community the people will not allow this space to be reopened.
