  • 376 Fairmount Ave Jersey City 07306, United States - West Side

There is a no parking anytime sign hidden from view while parking - only visible from fairmount court, not heading east up fairmount where it should be visible.

There is a parking authority officer who preys daily on people for using this spot without noticing the sign.

More photos will be in comments.

PEO N. Ortiz-Dejesus is the predatory officer. They know that this sign isn't visible once a person parks. Shame on this person bankrupting our residents and shame on the city for allowing this.

The porch of this home has 4 feral cat houses. Seems like they've been there for a long time as you can see them in Google street views from 7/2019. Walked by today and there were at least 10 cats hanging out on the porch, inside and outside the houses. Looks like the owner actively feeds them.
  • 2555 John F Kennedy Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - West Side
This spot is one of the most dangerous on all of the notoriously dangerous Kennedy Blvd. The senior home here at 2555 JFK Blvd is serviced by multiple Bus companies that shuttle seniors. The huge problem is that this area is off a blind turn and the bus drivers double park in the right lane and do not avail themselves of the use of the marked spot in front of the doorway... causing many accidents. On Monday a nasty accident occurred because of this that involved a 6 month old child. Only by the grace of the Lord was the baby not injured. Something needs to be done to eliminate this problem. The County Sheriff and JCPD should start issuing tickets to these buses. the Hudson County JFK Boulevard (CR -501) Intersection Safety Improvement Project should start here! ZERO TOLERANCE!

This is an ongoing problem which we have tried to address directly with NJ Transit, which operates patient transportation shuttles. Please read this comprehensive description in its entirety. These non-emergency shuttles pick up and drop off patients at the medical office at this address. Note that the medical office is the ONLY non-residential building (a converted house) on this block. Shuttles arrive to pick up patients from the office, and blast a recorded message over a public address loudspeaker that says "YOUR TRANSPORTATION HAS ARRIVED", at decibel levels designed to be heard INSIDE the building. This behavior is completely unacceptable, as the exceedingly loud recorded message can be heard inside all homes on this residential street, disrupting work, sleep (many people work nights), concentration, telephone calls, infants put down for naps, etc. In an age of cell phones, other means of notification are far more acceptable. NJ Transit's practice of using a PA system is unbelievably rude to all residents (and taxpayers, I should add) on this street, and demonstrates a total disrespect for the right to peaceful enjoyment of private property for all residents. This practice must stop. I'm calling on city officials to take corrective measures, and putting NJ Transit on notice that it must instruct all drivers to cease and desist the practice of using the PA system and repetitive horn blasts to summon its passengers who are inside a sealed building with double doors. A call to the reception desk is one possible solution, but something must be done. Thank you.

The sidewalk in front of this building is perpetually FULL of people hanging out and standing around. I understand community members want to spend time outside. This is not a loitering complaint. This is a question about community compliance with social distancing. The sidewalk here is only about 6 feet wide. If there are people in the middle of the sidewalk all day on this block, particularly in front of this property, then it's impossible for people using the sidewalk to walk from place to place to maintain distance. The people who congregate here by and large do not keep their masks up or wear masks at all. If they moved their congregating up the steps of this property, the sidewalk would still be usable. As it is, is a safety hazard trying to walk up or down Bergen - you can end up very close to tons of - often shouting (relevant because of the way shouting carries virus particles farther) - maskless groups of people or you can try to walk in and out of traffic. Could the city put up social distancing signage in popular community sidewalk gathering spots?
  • Fairmount Ave & John F Kennedy Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - West Side
For 6+ years this church at the corner has NOT EVER removed snow from the sidewalks on JFK or Fairmount. They do not put down salt or remove the snow, not once in over 6 years! Please send some to talk to Pastor Paul. It is extremely dangerous as it becomes a huge sheet of ice. One of these days someone will fall and break a leg, the city will be sued along with the church for negligence. I know the rules about when the snow falls and when a commercial or residential property is required to remove the snow. This church never ever removes snow! Please fix this health and safety hazard

On a regular basis, someone from this business walks the streets dropping these cards on the sidewalks, tossing them onto the front steps of homes, and putting a few on cars. They throw down multiples, littering the street with so many that it's an impossible task to pick them all up? Is this legal? Because it's litter. As a member of "Stop the Drop" I'm trying my best to pick them up but I don't understand why this business or any other is allowed to litter public and private property with these cards. What can be done?
  • 2554 John F Kennedy Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - McGinley Square
There was another accident at the intersection of Fairview Ave. and John F. Kennedy Boulevard right now, this afternoon Saturday March 20th, this is the second high speed accident at this intersection in two days, (I complained about the other accident that happened on March 18.) This time, car ran off the road and took down a traffic light on the sidewalk. Traffic speeds at 40 miles an hour, especially in the weekends when people race their cars down the Boulevard. Drivers always have accidents in the stretch of JFK Boulevard from Montgomery Street to Jewett Ave., Especially right before and after the curve at Duncan Avenue.
  • 320 Fairmount Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - McGinley Square

Hi, I would like to request the entire track of path on 320 Fairmount ave from the beginning where the church is down by boland ave to be repaved. See, the Schauger group commissioned by Jersey City to come and change all the pipes and sewer lines between April to September 24th did a major number on this road. It's bumpier and more uneven than a roller coaster ride and I suspect it is going to do a major number on everyone's vehicle suspensions.

They finally finished the city road work but the roads right now look like something out of the scene of Saving Private Ryan. Given that this road hasn't been paved since June 2019 and then doubly ended up getting completely ransacked as they dug up and broke ground, repaved, broke ground repaved, I think it needs to be paved, smoothed out and to function like a normal road

  • Intersection Of Fairmount And John F. Kennedy Boulevard Jersey City, New Jersey - McGinley Square

    Hello,

Last week while walking my 3-year-old daughter to school, we saw a man walking his two dogs get hit by a car at the intersection of Fairmount Avenue and John F. Kennedy Boulevard, even though he had a walk signal and was on the crosswalk. By some miracle, he and his dogs survived, but he was seriously injured. We called 911, and then I had to explain to my badly shaken daughter what had happened. I explained to her, again, the importance of looking both ways, waiting for a walk signal, and always holding my or her father's hand when she crosses the street. But the terrifying part is that even if she had done all of those things, that wouldn't have prevented this car from hitting us.

This is the second time in less than three years that I've seen someone get hit by a car on JFK and needed to call 911. The first time was at the intersection of Highland Avenue.

I know that safety improvements to JFK are planned for this spring, but are you able to provide more details on the timing? Fellow parents in our neighborhood are all as worried and unsettled as we are, and as much as we love this city, we don't feel safe on our streets. More specifically, a parent that lives on Fairmount said she was disappointed that her street was not included in the new speed bumps that are being added around the city. People race up that hill, and the hills on other side streets like Highland, to catch the light and zip around the corners onto JFK without any regard for pedestrians, and that's when people are getting hit. Both accidents that I've witnessed have happened in this scenario.

Can you please confirm what safety improvements are happening specifically to Fairmount and the other city streets in Ward B and the timing for these improvements?

    Thank you.

    Rasika W. Boice

Water is flowing from two sources on the street at the corner of Bergen and Jewett.

The tree here is dead, and should be removed before it falls down in a storm. It’s not on my property, but it is in front of my home.
