Description

A large drainage ditch parallels the Santa Fe trail beginning at a small basin near the intersection of the Santa fe trail and the White Rock Creek and lake trail. The ditch runs south parallelling the Santa Fe trail. This small basin and the ditch flowing south often exude bad sewage-like smells, but recently they have been oozing really awful sewage smells. I reported the problem to the city and they flushed the ditch and added something for the smell. The smell is not nearly as bad as it was along most of the ditch. However, the smell is still horrid at the small basin near the trail intersections. Clearly, there is a significant ongoing pollution problem here that needs to be corrected at its source, rather than simply having the smell reduced. This is a major recreational area. How many joggers and bicyclers have to gag as they pass this location?
